Biography

playing piano

Sofia Emelia has played piano throughout her life and started composing pop music at fifteen. During her studies in Musicology at Uppsala University in Sweden, including ten-part symphonic arranging in the style of Mozart at the Department of Musicology, both theoretical and practical skills were developed, which have had a profound influence on her musical expression.

“The reason I play the piano is to create space for a meditative state of presence, a calm atmosphere, and to enter a peaceful creative flow.”

After taking a break from music for a while, Sofia Emelia returned to the piano in 2014, this time with a new purpose: to use music as a form of relaxation and inner listening. The goal was to find stillness. Through quiet improvisation, a new direction emerged. Two years later, the piano piece Desire was born, marking a shift in style and the beginning of what would become Sofia Emelia’s emotionally reflective and meditatively inspired sound.
